"Busting Out All Over" — Tewi Lingerie, Inc

One of two pieces donated by the designer, Thea Tewi, to the Brooklyn Museum, this nightgown has a full sense of drama created by the long free-floating sleeves and voluminous hem flounce. Clearly, the garment was meant to make a statement in the boudoir. Produced after World War II, this nightgown represents the return to femininity during the late-1940s.
