Gypsy Rose Lee (1911-1970) was a burlesque performer and author of the 1957 memoir which became the highly successful stage musical and movie "Gypsy". The Brooklyn Museum collection contains several garments worn by her son, Erik Lee Preminger. In her European travels Lee collected examples of regional dress for him to wear for promotional purposes when they returned to the U.S.
