This fan leaf provides a good example of a Victorian adaptation of aesthetics and styles of earlier periods. The colors and style of the Italian Renaissance are reflected on the obverse side; on the reverse is a charming adaptation of an 18th-century genre painting showing men and women engaged in a popular game of the period
