Fan
Tiffany & Co.
1890–1899 · mother-of-pearl, silk, linen, metal, glass · Costume Institute

With its vibrant color and luminescent mother-of- pearl sticks, this fan is an attention-getting accessory. It is saved from vulgarity, however, by the fine bobbin-made lace, which is elegantly applied so that the floral border extends beyond the edge of the fan leaf.
