"Starship"
Giorgio di Sant'Angelo|Tess Sholom
ca. 1983 · metal, crystal · Costume Institute

The Star Wars saga began in 1977 with the release of "Star Wars" and continued to 1983 with the release of the third part, "Return of the Jedi." The series of movies was extremely popular and continues to influence popular culture to today. Jewelry designer Tess Sholom often collaborated with designers to create jewelry to accompany their current lines. This sleek necklace named "Starship" was inspired by the Star Wars frenzy and was designed for Giorgio di Sant'Angelo. The bold sexy design would complement his body hugging designs nicely. The transparency of the stone is particularly stunning and clearly shows the five point star pattern in the faceting.
