The contemporary taste for frilly, ornate, and ultra-feminine styles is fully expressed in this hat from the middle of the Edwardian era. The placement of flowers under the brim is a charming and flirtatious feature of hats of the period, and this hat features particularly large and prominent flowers, calling attention to the wearer's face in a ruffly halo of shirred sheer cotton.
