Colored and patterned shoes and coordinated accessories were often worn as counterpoint to the white cotton dresses of the neoclassical period. An appealing striped pattern and color scheme enliven this pair of slippers, which feature the sharply pointed toe and low heel then in fashion. The high quality is displayed in the beautifully finished soles, which are burnished to form a decorative design accentuating the angular shape.
