Shoes — Steven Arpad

Although not labeled, this pair of charming and whimsical shoes is without doubt the creation of Steven Arpad. Arpad's shoe designs are well documented by the Brooklyn Museum's unique collection of over seventy-five shoe prototypes designed in Paris in 1939 and an extensive archive of original sketches. In what could be a precious design, Arpad employs dynamic lines in the silhouette to add substance. The sharply angled peaks at the top form the perfect compliment in proportion and line to the toe.
