Exquisitely detailed in its decoration, this hand-made teddy was owned by Millicent Rogers, the style maven whose entire wardrobe is in the Brooklyn Museum’s collection. The delicate, fine quality lace contrasts gently with the faint peach crepe de chine. The hand worked details such as the tucking, the drawnwork bands, which overlap with the lace at the bodice top, and the lace, which is applied following the line of the motif, are refined and typify the level of taste and appreciation of beauty Rogers expressed in her clothing. The diminutive monogram, "MM" for her given name Mary Millicent, is the epitome of customization and luxury.
