Bathing suit
Sinclair Mills|Tom Brigance
spring 1960–61 · orlon, cotton · Costume Institute

While Brigance was a sportswear pioneer as early as 1939, he never tired of finding new materials, especially for swimwear. Quick-drying materials and knits became favorites for the 1960s. In this example, he anticipates the sleek Halston looks that themselves hearken back not only to Brigance, but ultimately to McCardell, including a recreation of the diaper bathing suit.
