Byron Lars blended aspects of a 1970s platform shoe and a Japanese workman's clog. His white leather boot with black leather trompe-l'oeil strap approximates the tabi, the traditional Japanese woven bifurcated-toe sock, and the geta strap. The wooden sole has the two flat risers typical of the geta, but they have migrated to the front part of the shoe. A flared heel raises the back of the foot.
