This ensemble, evoking the costume worn by a shepherd in mainland Greece in the late nineteenth century, is composed of a combination of different elements, sourced at different dates: the short, deep navy woolen jacket with hanging sleeves and appliquéd black braid and the hand-stitched garters, for example, are likely late nineteenth-century, whereas the other elements, like the pair of machine-stitched black and red caps, are twentieth-century.
