Colonists used spouted drinking pots for the consumption of posset and other drinks. To make posset, various combinations of eggs, cream, sugar, bread, wine and ale were boiled, skimmed, and served hot. The low-lying spout was useful for liquids that had froth floating on top. This posset pot is decorated in a chinoiserie pattern that imitates Chinese porcelain designs.
