First published in 1633, the manual of Ten Bamboo Studio (Shizhuzhai) is one of the earliest and finest examples of color printing from China. The book, which served as both luxury object and guide for aspiring painters, compiles familiar images from Chinese art, especially flowers, birds, fruits, and rocks. Various decorative objects, including archaistic bronzes, also appear in the manual and reflect the contemporary taste of the later Ming period. These pages are from an eighteenth-century reprint edition.
