Untitled — Hishikawa Moronobu 菱川師宣

In this Yoshiwara street scene, the three women at the left are the center of attention. The water tank and buckets in the background are at the ready in case of fire in the narrow, crowded streets of the pleasure quarter. Yoshiwara burned down completely in 1676, just a few years before this print was made.
