This print was not produced in Yokohama but rather in Nagasaki, the only port open to foreign trade until the end of the Edo period and thus Japan's only window to foreign countries. Nagasaki prints usually illustrated exotic sailing ships and Dutch and Chinese people. They were an important source for Yokohama prints.
