Hasegawa Sadanobu III began creating prints as Konobu III (三代目小信), the name used in the signature here. He worked principally in medium of Shin hanga, producing illustrations of kabuki actors, scenes from puppet plays and images modern Japanese women. Early in his career, he also created a good number of frontispiece illustrations for popular literature of the day.
