清 吳熙載 杏花 扇面|Apricot
Wu Xizai
19th century · Folding fan mounted as an album leaf; ink and color on alum paper · Asian Art

The cool, declarative simplicity of this apricot branch, painted as a gift, is complemented by Wu's inscription: I once saw a handscroll by Chen Laolien [Chen Hongshou, 1599–1652], which the painter said was done in the style of a Yuan master, and I have imitated it.
