Madame Jean-François Raffaëlli
Jean-François Raffaëlli
ca. 1876 · Etching and drypoint; second state of two · Drawings and Prints

According to the artist, this print was his first trial of the etching technique. He later identified some technical faults with the plate and admitted that the manner was "slightly dark," but he did not find these flaws distracted from the overall effect. An impression of this print may have been among the early etchings and drypoints Raffaëlli exhibited in the fifth Impressionist exhibition in 1880.
