New York II — Adam Magyar

In the Squares series, Adam Magyar pushes crowdsourcing in its literal sense to its limits by digitally combining aerial portraits of different individuals and placing them into artificially constructed city spaces. In "New York II," Magyar photographed visitors to the American Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and then combined them in a convincing, if surreal space. For Magyar, "the project was like collecting bugs or butterflies and arranging them in the display case…. It is a game with time and space, reality and fiction, loneliness and community."
