This painted textile (pichhavai) is a devotional temple hanging dedicated to the veneration of Lord Krishna as Shrinathji. Traditionally much worshipped by rural worshippers, and especially those associated with cowherds, this genre of painted cloth served as backdrops to the black stone icon, and as substitutes for it when worshipped away from Nathdwara. This panel is distinguished by two scenes of devotion, beautifully unified on a blue ground carpeted with white flowers.
