“Keeping the Culture” is a vibrantly colored screenprint and linocut that depicts an Afro-Futuristic domestic interior filled with African art and mid-century modernist furniture. The family is living in the future in a home that is beyond Earth’s orbit, as evident by the view of the solar system outside their windows. The two adults are shown near the windows, revealing the celestial view of the Milky Way, while behind them two children marvel at a hologram of a floating globe, whose axis spins to show Africa in the center.
