이강효 분청 굽높은 반|粉靑臺附盤|Vessel — Lee Kang-hyo 이강효 李康孝

Contemporary Korean ceramics often reflect that many of today’s artists are engaged in a dynamic dialogue with the past. Inspired by Joseon ritual vessels, the works by Kim Yik-yung and Lee Kang-hyo exemplify that dialogue. While differing in shape, material, and surface decoration, both works echo a bo, a footed rectangular vessel for grain. The two artists included the customary ridged flanges (ribbing) of ritual vessels, but each has interpreted the decorative element in their own way.
