In addition to his ornamental vases, Wedgwood produced an incredible variety of shapes in creamware for the table. This monteith, a type of vessel used to cool wine glasses, demonstrates the firm’s ability to combine naturalistic elements such as the scalloped leaves with a restrained elegance of form.
