Textile Length with Seated Deer and Floral Blossoms — Rahul Jain|Hasmat Ansari

This textile was hand-woven in 2018 on a traditional Indian draw-loom by silk-weaver Hasmat Ansari in village Amehta, Uttar Pradesh, India. Its original design of seated deer interspersed with floral blossoms against silver ground is inspired by Mughal album borders. The silver here is only mildly patinated allowing us to visualize a similar effect in historical textiles which are now largely all tarnished.
