Two Panels with Flower Designs

These two fragmentary panels were originally most likely components in a piece of furniture. The floral patterns painted in polychrome pigments and gold are representative of the flower style which was in vogue in Mughal India, and at a peak during the seventeenth century. The carefully depicted flowers can be identified as white lily, blue morning glory, red roses, blue hyacinth, and pink dianthus or carnation plants.
