The identity of the young woman holding a stem of flowers in Girault de Prangey's daguerreotype remains unknown. This charming portrait previously was kept with a group of daguerreotypes that he made in Rome in 1842, where the sitting might have taken place. The picture also bears formal similarities with Girault's self-portrait, which he likely made at his villa in France in 1841.
