Collectible trade cards such as these were inserted in commercial products to advertise brands and communicate information about the Great War to a wide audience. Each illustration is accompanied by a related description on the back of the card. Translation of description on verso: The French General Joffre visits the Italian front accompanied by General Cadorna, when the Italian artillery pulled back from a forceful Austrian attack in the Sexten Valley.
