Drawing with three furniture studies in pen and ink. The three studies are placed randomly on the sheet and are made up out of spontaneously scribbled and seemingly ongoing lines. The two lower sketches are for a reclining chair and a sofa. The top design is harder to identify. This drawing exemplifies the renewed attention to drawings that characterized the architectural field in the late 1970s and 1980s when contemporary architectural drawings such as this one became highly sought after as collector's items. Their popularity was such that some drawing were made directly for art galleries, rather than originating organically during the design process. The clean appearance of this sheet may indicate that it is an example of the latter practice, although drawing generally formed an integral part of Gehry's design process.
