Design for a Stage Set Depicting a Perspectival View of an Ideal Renaissance City — Anonymous, Italian, 16th century|Monogrammist G.A. & the Caltrop

Perspectival view of an ideal Renaissance city, looking into a street with a church and an obelisk in the background. The forefround of the print is marked by the visible depiction of the proscenium with an oculus at top. The sheet was acquired as part of a set of fifteen sheets containing 19 plates with views of ancient Roman buildings, likely all from the stock of Antonio Lafreri and/or Antonio Salamanca in Rome.
