Old Hastings — Westley Manning

Manning carried the sensibility of the Etching Revival into the twentieth century in landscape subjects found in England and northern France. Attracted to distinct local architectural forms—he also traveled to Italy, Spain and North Africa. In this print, evening sunlight weaves pleasing patterns on service buildings used to dry fishing nets below a cliff at Hastings, on England's southern coast.
