江戸高名会亭尽 柳ばし夜景 万八|The Manpachi at Evening in Yanagibashi
Utagawa Hiroshige
ca. 1835–42 · Woodblock print; ink and color on paper · Asian Art

Formulaic, yet still punctuated by surprising points of view, Hiroshige's lighthearted survey of Edo's famous gastronomic sites includes a punning couplet about each place in the fan-shaped cartouches at the upper right. The eclectic mix of Edo denizens that appears in this series is delightful.
