山姥と金太郎|Yamauba and Kintoki — Kitagawa Utamaro

The ostensible subjects of these portraits are the wild boy Kintarō and his adoptive mother, Yamauba, who lived in the mountains. Utamaro produced many images of this pair that astutely capture intimate moments between mother and son.
