See comment for 1993.1133.1–85. This print depicts the oil tanker Potrero del Llano, which was torpedoed by a German submarine in 1942 while sailing under a Mexican flag off the coast of Florida. The attack contributed to Mexico’s decision to enter World War II on the side of the Allies. Mexico and Brazil were the only Latin American nations to send troops during the war.
