Textile Design with Vertical Stripes of Pearls and Honeycomb Pattern Over a Flat Ground

Rectangular sheet of paper with a textile design from a group, dated 1840, made in Mulhouse, Alsace, which was an important nineteenth-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. The design consists of vertical stripes of pearls and a honeycomb pattern rendered in two different ways over a flat tan ground. The pearls are of white color with a black outline, and the honeycomb pattern is of dark reddish-brown color. Half the with of the honeycomb pattern is created with a line thicker than the other half.
