1986 · Gelatin silver print · Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas

Edward Ranney has been photographing ancient American archaeological sites for some forty years. His photos document places where many ancient American objects were created and provide a sense of place and context to the Americas collection. Many of the sites Ranney photographed have since been destroyed or altered beyond recognition, and as such provide an important resource for scholars and the public.
