Most important work of Italian satirist, Trajano Boccalini (1556-1613), of 17th Century Italy. Under the allegorical guise of Apollo’s realm, Bocalini was able to satirize contemporary society, politics and literature gaining widespread appeal in Baroque Europe. In 2 volumes, with individual title pages; separate pagination; register continuous. Contemporary Dark green morocco binding by Simier with arms of Duchesse de Barry (1798-1870). Egg-and-dart embossed outer border on front and back covers. With printer's devices on title pages of both volumes.
