Pitcher — Tiffany & Co.

This pitcher, inspired by classical and Renaissance models, is called a “Roman pitcher” in the Tiffany factory’s pattern book. The decorative scheme for the band of putti and grapes, here executed in repoussé, was entered in the firm’s ledgers in early 1883. Several versions of the pitcher are known to survive, suggesting that the model was produced over a number of years.
