Berlin ironwork necklace — Unknown

Ironwork jewelry is an important category of nineteenth century jewelry, and this necklace represents the first example in the Museum's collection. Berlin was a major center of production of ironwork jewelry, and neoclassical designs strongly influenced early Berlin work in this medium. This necklace is unusual in its combination of ironwork with polished steel.
