近代 石魯 擠奶圖 軸|Milking — Shi Lu

The artist's inscription reports that this is a scene from Tibetan life observed while traveling in the Qinghai region in 1952 and done from memory later in Xian. After the Long March there was romantic fascination among many artists for the landscapes and peoples of China's western regions. Art depicting the simple lives of these remote folk tended to be both picturesque and politically correct. Shi Lu's painting is characteristically sympathetic without recourse to sentimentality.
