The head on a spider’s body is a caricature of Hirohito, the emperor of Japan. The name of China over which the spider crawls refers to the Japanese invasion of China in 1937. The poster advertises a seminar on the subject of Fascism in Japan that was planned for Friday, June 9, 1938, at the Fine Arts Palace in Mexico City. The poster was published by the Taller de Gráfica Popular (Workshop of Popular Graphic Art). Artists at TGP made several posters to publicize the series organized by the League for German Culture in Mexico.
