"Savage"

Halston is best known for his application of innovative patterning techniques in the construction of near-seamless bias cut gowns and for the promotion of ease and wearability in designs for shift dresses and suits. In the mid-1970s, the designer began to apply his eveningwear aesthetic to a wide range of ready-to-wear clothing, including swimwear. This bathing suit, titled “Savage,” incorporates the plunging neckline typical of many of the designer’s gowns. The customizable garment, composed of one continuous piece of fabric, is passed through the legs, wrapped around the waist, and tied to fit.
