枯茶地カメラ模様長襦袢|Man’s Under-Kimono (Nagajuban) with Cameras
Unknown
ca. 1955 · Silk with printed design · Asian Art

This man’s informal under-kimono has patterned strips of brown, gray, and white, each decorated with different geometric motifs that may reference a photography excursion. Images of Leica and Rolleiflex cameras, self-timers, and express train tickets dated “Shōwa 31st year” (1955) are scattered across the fabric, while the words “FILM CAMERA” are repeated horizontally along the surface. Rolleiflex TLR cameras were notable for their exceptional build quality, compact size, modest weight, superior optics, and durable, simple, and reliable mechanics.
