In this kimono made for a boy are images of horses and spy pigeons (with cameras attached to their necks). These motifs are punctuated by two words, written in white katakana characters on a dark-blue background: aikoku, which means love of country, or patriotism, and hinomaru, the rising sun, a symbol of Japan and the common name for the Japanese flag, like those held in the mouths of the dogs.
