[Anouk Aimée, Yves Montand, and André Delvaux on the Set of “Un Soir, un Train”] — Terry O'Neill|Anouk Aimée|Yves Montand|André Delvaux

This photograph by the renowned British celebrity photographer Terry O’Neill was made during the filming of Un soir, un train (1968) directed by André Delvaux, seen kneeling in the center of the frame. In the foreground are the film’s stars, Anouk Aimée and Yves Montand, who lie together in a forest clearing with a large camera pointing down at them. O’Neill’s beautifully framed image documents the making of the photograph that was eventually used as the movie poster and, as such, offers a stylish glimpse behind the scenes of Europe’s postwar culture industry.
