Head of a God

The style of this head is similar to a statue in the temple of Karnak that depicts Amenhotep II with a god. Both works may have been part of a series of statues representating gods that were commissioned by the king for his jubilee festibal or "heb-sed." The king's grandson, Amenhotep III also commissioned a series of divine statues for his own jubilee. For examples of these, see 19.2.5 and 19.2.15.
