Hippopotamus statuettes made out of faience (a non-clay ceramic material) occur in four different positions: standing, walking, seated, and reclining. This reclining hippopotamus is decorated with lotus flowers and leaves, and the depiction of a bird with outstretched wings can be found on its back.
