The physharmonica is a small version of the melodican and harmonium. Designed in Vienna in 1821 by Anton Haeckle, the physharmonica stood in many parlors by the end of the nineteenth century. Technical description: Rectangular mahogany veneer case latched on a shallow tray above a three-legged stand holding two pedals (left operates lever within windchest that partially blocks wind supply for softening effect; right operates bellows through linkage to lever extending from left end of case)
