Contrabass Valve Ophicleide in D — Leopold Uhlmann

Uhlmann developed this type in 1835, first as a bass and then in the contrabass version on display. Also in 1835, August Guichard in Paris developed a different valved ophicleide and Wilhelm Wieprecht in Berlin invented the tuba, which finally became the prevailing valve bass.
