Description: one-piece maple back with fine horizontal figure; similar ribs and neck; fine-grain spruce top; single purfling; ebony pegs (one repaired), nut, fingerboard, tail- piece, saddle, tail pin and chin rest; orange varnish;bridge later and missing 1 leg; with bow (b) having round stick; ivory tip; ebony and pearl frog; metal and ebony button; leather wrapping; in oblong, domed maple and spruce case (c) lined with purple velvet; celluloid clasps for bow; with handle; two hooks and other brass hardware; blue velvet cover for violin bearing embroidered initials JEC.
